Lending Fraud
I have yet to borrow money from a private lender for secured loans, but my little sister did recently. Just last week Sept. 5, 2008 she applied for a Secured loan for $10,000 through Westbrook-Financial. She was seeking a loan to pay for school related necesities. Westbrook supposidley matches the borrower with a private lender. The lender still has yet to be revealed. Westbrook's terms are as follows: Depending on how much money one wants to borrow, will determine how much the down payment will be. In her case she had to proove to them that she could come up with the first five payments which amounted to $789. When she initially sent in the down payment, she was told that she would be would be receiving a payment booklet in the mail and also the dispursement of th loan in full within 4-6 hours of them receiving the payment. It has now been a whole week and daspite her continuos efferts to make contact with Salina Tutt (Loan Agent), she has not received the loan dispursent and or a returned phone call or email regarding the agreement. When she calls the "24 hour" call center the calls are screened. The automated service automatically asks "who's speaking". Isn't that weird!!! Which means that her number obviously has been put on a list to not be answered. She did get through to someone once and when asked for her name, she was then immediately forwarded top the main voice mail system. Once again how weird!!!That $789 was her last and now she is left with nothing. She ws planning to use some of the loan money to buy books, but now she will have to drop her classes for this semester.
